To my senior girls .... with love.

This one is to all my girls living in the 4th quarter,

These are the final days of your high school career. You are caught somewhere in between the already and the not yet and it feels like outer space. You are trying to hold on and let go and it’s hard to know one from the others at times. As your high school days are winding down, here are a few things I thought you should know:

On college:

*Despite what you might think, no matter where you are going to school, scored on the ACT or what GPA you ended up with, God still has a plan for you.

*Your identity is not in your alma mater or the sorority you rush for. Your identity is in the one who created you.

*If a door closes listen for the still, small whisper letting you know God has this.

On Prom:

*For the love, have fun.

*If it’s not classy, don’t do it.

*Don’t trade what you want most, for what you want in a moment. (point 3)

*Order something really good for dinner. Eat all of it. Order dessert. Eat all of it.

*Take pics but try to forget about social media for one night. In six months you will be in a college library studying for finals wondering what all these friends are up to.

*Make a post-prom plan (that your grandmother would approve of). Direction, not intention, determines your destination. Refer to point 3.

On summer:

*Spend the summer with your family and your close friends. Your life will never be like it is right now. Btw, these are not “the best years of your life”, but this is a special year. Soak it up.

*Tell your parents “I love you” and “thank you” a lot. In a few, short months you will wish they were cooking you dinner and doing your laundry.

*Have fun, but invest your time. Serve at your local church, go to summer camp, do everything that you won’t be able to do after this year.

*Work on finding a church at the college you are going to. Ask people around you what they would recommend. Look for college ministries to plug into. Again, direction, not intention, determines your destination.

To my 3Circle girls,

I am beyond proud of you. Know that the faith you have built over these years is real. Spend the next few months figuring out what you believe and WHY you believe it. Develop a habit of reading God’s word, on the daily. If you don’t start now, it will be really hard to start once you get to college. Know that TC and I are here for you always. We are in your corner, praying of you and cheering you on.

So we raise our glass (sparkling grape juice, of course) to you. Cheers! Well done.
